HOT ROLLED (HR) STEEL ROUND BARS
Hot rolled steel round bars have been rolled or pressed at high temperatures and then cooled at room temperature. While the finished product has looser tolerances than the original material, it has greater formability and workability without losing strength or durability. Other key benefits of hot rolled steel round bars include increased thickness control, higher production rate, increased width use, and a more cost-effective option.
Hot rolled steel round bars are commonly used in bridge construction, railroad equipment, structural components, heavy equipment, construction materials, and agricultural equipment.
COLD ROLLED (CR) STEEL ROUND BARS
Cold rolled steel round bars are hot rolled bars that undergo furthering processing. This enhances the mechanical properties of the resulting rounds, including hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength. Because a cold rolled steel round bar has tighter size tolerances, better shape uniformity, and improved dimensional consistency, it is used to create highly precise parts and components. Also, cold rolled steel round bars have a smooth and shiny surface finish.
