Not all steel dealers will offer the same variety of products. Some may only offer structural steel products, such as steel channel, I-beams, tees, sheet metal and expanded metal, while others may only offer steel stock, such as angle iron, flat iron, bars, strips and other products you might find in a fabrication or welding shop. Some offer other types of metal, such as aluminum or zinc, and they may offer accessories like welding supplies, pipe fittings, flanges and tools. Certain suppliers may only offer prime steel, while others offer only surplus steel. The best steel dealers offer a wide selection, with many grades of steel, including prime, less-than-prime and surplus.
