Sales Manager Position
The Sales Manager reports directly to the General Manager. They will hire, train, coach and manage the professional development of the sales team, which consists of individuals who conduct sales via phones, Internet, referrals or direct face to face sales. They will also establish sales goals, track sales, produce sales reports and set department budgets. Also, develop relationships with existing clients.
- Key Responsibilities (Sales)
- Direct and oversee all sales functions. This would include hiring, training and providing ongoing professional development opportunities for the sales team.
- Prepare sales objectives and prepare reports to monitor actual sales, sales leads and top accounts performance. Also, generate reports that cover goals and results.
- Build relationships with top accounts and effectively communicate with sales team to determine potential target accounts.
- Be an integral part of the management team and annual budgeting process.
- Effective leader within the EOS leadership team.
- Communication- It is critical that the Sales Manager maintains good communications with his sales team, customers, co-workers and management team. This includes:
- Working with the GM, this manager is to conduct weekly sales meetings with the sales team. These meetings should include discussions regarding sales and margin goals and their current status, market pricing, competitor information, market status reports, sales training activities, and any operational information that would affect the salespeople’s ability to effectively perform their duties.
- Meet with the GM on a weekly basis to discuss status of sales goals, selling strategies, and any customer problems or issues that need to be addressed.
- On an as-needs basis he/she will address issues with individual sales team members or if need be, the entire sales team.
- Training
- Make sure all new hires are trained according to training guidelines and assure they are trained and are quizzed on all materials and critical functions.
- Maintain an ongoing sales training program and make sure all sales personnel are up to date on policies and procedures.
- Sales, product and management training and education is critical to TI&M’s success it is important to take advantage of proper opportunities as they become available. This includes attendance in any inhouse training sessions and any offsite training opportunities.
- Work directly with GM to develop and maintain a consistent, ongoing sales and product training program for all salespeople. In addition, the Sales Manager is expected to take the lead in encouraging each salesperson to take advantage of needed sales and product training opportunities. This includes their mandatory attendance at all in-house sales and product training sessions, attendance at the company’s employee meetings and any offsite training that might become available.
- Requirements
- College degree or equivalent in work experience.
- Proven track record in managing a sales team of up to 10.
- Five plus years of sales management experience with B2B sales, Industrial sales experience is a plus.
- Positive “Can do” attitude.
- Computer literacy (Excel, Word, CRM software)
