Controller
Due to the retirement of our long term Accounting Manager, Texas Iron & Metal has a full-time opening for a Controller to join the Texas Iron & Metal family in Houston, Texas..
With significant growth over the past several years, we need a solid team player to help take us to the next level. This position reports to the President and is responsible for all aspects of managing the accounting, administrative, human resource and IT functions of the company.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Accurate and timely financial performance reporting.
- The ongoing provision of an effective accounting-administrative function that is consistently staffed with trained and competent personnel sufficient to support the current and future operational requirements of Texas Iron & Metal.
- Direct supervision of all accounting and administrative personnel.
- Oversee the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial statements, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of internal controls to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results and ensure that the reported results comply with sound accounting principles and reflect all of the activity of Texas Iron & Metal, as well as all associated entities.
- The ongoing provision of the computer/IT system and assurance that we are up-to-date, well-maintained, secure and meeting all of our current and future needs in this area.
- The ongoing provision of timely and reliable Key Performance Indicators.
- Maintain relationships with outside vendors for accounting, IT, banking, insurance, utility and payroll
- Assure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including sales tax returns and ad-valorem renditions
Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar with 3-5 years of experience in accounting management and supervision
- CPA status is not required
